| Firstly I'd like to say that the time has passed when the 'cute chubby girls' got a real shot at being a career plus size model. It's never been that accessible a job to begin with, and I don't know why so many women think it is. Can just any skinny girl get on the cover of Vogue? No. So why think that the same high standards of beauty do not apply when it comes to plus-size models? A model is a model, regardless of the dress size she wears. Top plus-size models have AMAZING faces. They have HOT, curvy bodies that look sensational in lingerie and swimwear. Hell, even already-working models in smaller markets and from overseas look at New York girls with a sense of 'geez, I have to compete with those girls?' They aren't just okay-enough looking to sell a pair of Dockers in a Marshall's catalog, they are actual could-get-a-Covergirl-cosmetics-booking or editorials-in-Vogue level of beautiful, because that's what clients are realizing is available now, and they are getting more and more demanding. Finally, people are seeing that larger women are beautiful too, but there are still only a small number of plus-size models that work beyond the normal' 'plus-size clothing arena, like Kate Dillon (Gucci, Nine West, Vogue editorials...), Crystal Renn (Dolce e Gabbana, Jean Paul Gaultier, Vogue, and way too many other things to list here), Jordan Tesfay (Cover Girl cosmetics), Allegra Doherty (Italy GQ nude cover! Italian Vogue..), etc etc. And you want to compete with these women for work??? That's the main reason why it is now harder than ever before to become a top plus-size model - the bar is being raised higher and higher. And you have to be a top girl to earn enough money to even call it a career. If you aren't making more than you are spending, then it is NOT a career - it's a really expensive hobby. You should be doing it to make money and be able to get ahead and save money. Not because you really really want to be a model no matter how much money you have to spend. That's not going to make it happen - there is much about the job that is not within your control at all so while the belief in yourself is good, it's not going to affect whether a client gives you a job or not. You are adorable. You are not model material, though. You are too short and you just don't look that dynamic. You would not stand a chance against agency girls. | well if your only 13 and already 5'8 then i say you are made for modeling. Your measurements are almost perfect for modeling and you have a great face. I do think you are a little to young to do anything serious, you should wait a couple of years and start your research now. Modeling is also my dream and i have done more research than many models have. You need to know every designer by name and face and you need to be nice and natural. My only advice to you would be to let out the brads and fluff up that beautiful natural hair. Consider ourself lucky, i found out the hard way that i can never model, i went to an agency and they said i had the face and shape but could never get past commercial because of my height of 5'6.
